You know those really cool wreaths you always see on Pinterest – well I finally made one! When I saw this wreath I just loved it – the buttons and all! While the blog didn’t really tell me HOW to make it (you’d be proud!) I figured it out on my own.
I read up on it and went to JoAnns and got supplies (just a wreath, yarn, and buttons). I spent just over an hour and a half on my wreath and while it’s definitely flawed – I think it turned out okay!
You can see (especially at the bottom) where the string isn’t as perfect as I’d have liked. And I won’t even show you the back side (HOT MESS!) but when it’s hanging you can’t really see all of those flaws.

I bought enough materials to make two wreaths: one for my front door and one to lay on Dad’s grave on Memorial Day at the SD National Cemetery. Everything you leave there is thrown away at the end of the day – so maybe mom will want it. But I feel like I need to bring something.
Word of the wise: I used my hot glue gun for the first wreath and realized what my inner kid always knew – hot glue is HOT and a mess! I think next time I’ll just use fabric glue. Also, don’t rush it. About an hour in I started getting antsy and really should have just walked away – but I didn’t and that’s why it’s not as perfect as I’d have liked. Also, next time I will probably measure out the red and white stripes. You can’t really tell that they aren’t even but it was really nerve-wracking guessing.
Overall, this was a great, cheap, (generally) fast project that (like I said) I will be doing again! A great gift, a great piece of decor for Memorial Day and the 4th of July! I’m very proud of this particular Pinterest Creation!

I love making these yarn wreaths! I haven’t made this one yet, but I want to for the summer. And it is a really cool idea to put it on your dad’s grave — that is a really cool tribute.

And you did it without instructions! If you’d had instructions, it’s possible you might have been told to make sure you measured, told to use fabric glue, that type of thing. It looks great anyway!
