I need to be more organized. It’s a fact (and a problem). Especially when it comes to our small bathroom. We don’t have a master bathroom so the bathroom that Dan and I use is also the bathroom used by guests. It’s a smaller bathroom with less than an abundance of storage. In college I just left my crap out. When I lived on my own I used the entire bathroom. Obviously, that’s changed. I don’t have an exact “before” picture to share as this was more of a spur of the moment project that I had anticipated. But imagine a hot mess. I just had everything everywhere and could never find what I needed. When I saw this Pinterest Pin – I figured it was at least a good try.
I couldn’t find “fancy” containers like that, so I used regular plastic containers found at Walmart in the kitchen section. I didn’t want to run out but hadn’t taken the time to think things through (imagine that) so I just bought a lot and planned to return what I didn’t use. Here is my finished product:
I divided containers into hair, earrings, make up, necklaces, bracelets, etc (basically I used LOADS of categories). I ended up using all of the containers I had purchased but I didn’t go broke – the whole project cost me $6.04.
But you know how sometimes after you do an organizational project it goes to crap a week later. Here are more recent pictures (5 weeks after I put the system in use).
Pretty much the same! This project has really worked for me (and continue to work). I haven’t had to change a whole lot around and it’s nice to know where to find everything! It was also great to “purge” while I organized – who knew I had so much crap that I didn’t even use!
Overall, I highly recommend these little Walmart containers (they even come in black!) to organize your “hot mess” bathroom! It’s a cheap project that I feel makes a big difference. Plus, my husband hasn’t complained as much recently!

Keeping this in mind as I plan for moving into my new place. I did a major pitch of stuff when we packed old place for temp place but I know I’m going to get unorganized and cluttery quick if I don’t have a plan. (especially when my nearest wal-mart is almost an hour away)

I think I need this system for my entire house. I always try to organize things, but like you said it eventually goes to crap! We’re moving soon though, so I think I’ve really just lost all motivation.
